Four Pirates Named NFCA All-Region
Four members of Pensacola State's softball team received NFCA All-South Region honors.
Four members of Pensacola State's softball team received NFCA All-South Region honors.
Leading the Pirates in the selection was freshman utility/pitcher Georgia Hood as she received a 1st Team nod. Hood was the FCSAA Player of the Year and led Pensacola in almost all the major offensive statistics. She finished the year with a sterling .440 batting average and drove in 65 RBI with nine homeruns and 16 doubles. Hood almost had an impact in the circle with an 11-3 record while striking out 91 batters and sported a team best 1.66 ERA. She did not give up a homerun all season.
Lydia Drake was named to the 2nd Team for her stellar pitching performance throughout the season. The freshman, southpaw was 16-2 on the season and struck out 121 batters while recording a 1.75 ERA.
Tori Ratigan joined Drake on the 2nd Team after a solid freshman campaign at shortstop. The speedy leadoff batter continuously set the table for PSC and scored a team high 59 runs while batting .407. She led the team in stolen bases with 20 and also drove in 25 runs.
Sophomore Mya Geros was the final honoree also receiving a 2nd Team selection. The versatile outfielder used her blend of speed and power to bat .426 with nine doubles, a team high five triples and 36 RBI's.
