Softball Finishes First Round of Conference Play

PSC 1 TCC 0

Pensacola State opened conference play with 1-0 win over Tallahassee. The game proved to be a pitcher's duel as the lone run was courtesy of a home run off the bat of Georgia Hood in the sixth inning.

Lydia Drake picked up the win for PSC throwing a complete game allowing only two hits while striking out seven.

PSC 4 TCC 2

The second game saw a little more offense with PSC securing the sweep.

Georgia Hood and Kasey Marcusik both hit solo home runs while Susanna Soldi chipped in a double.

Madison Sabo started and went three innings allowing three hits and two runs. Georgia Hood made her first appearance in the circle this Spring and picked up the win. She threw four innings of hitless ball and struck out four.

Gulf Coast 3 PSC 1

Pensacola spotted Gulf Coast a 3-run lead in the first inning and could never recover.

Samantha Ladowski was 2-for-3 at the plate and Tori Ratigan added a hit and scored the Pirates lone run of the game.

After the shaky first inning Lydia Drake settled in only allowed two hits the rest of the game.

Gulf Coast 7 PSC 6

The Commodores reeled off seven runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-4 lead.

Pensacola answered in the bottom with two runs and loaded the bases with two outs, but could not push across a game winner.

Susanna Soldi was 2-for-3 with two RBI, two walks and a run scored, while Samantha Ladowski was also 2-for-3 with one walk and one run scored.

PSC 8 Chipola 3

Pensacola got on the board in the second inning when Bre'Asia Thomas singled with two outs and was followed by Brianna Duggins driving a home run over the left field fence to make it 2-0.

After Chipola added a run in the third, the Pirates answered in the top of the fourth. Again doing damage with two outs, Samantha Ladowski walked and the Tori Ratigan drove a ball into the left field corner and raced around the bases for an inside the park home run. Susanna Soldi then singled and Georgi Hood smashed a home run over the center field fence.

Bre'Asia Thomas rounded out the scoring for PSC in the seventh when she stroked her first home run of the season.

Lydia Drake went the distance in the circle scattering eight hits and striking out three.

 

PSC 4 Chipola 5

The nightcap saw Chipola stage a comeback in the sixth inning to overtake PSC.

Pensacola scored in the first frame courtesy of a 2-RBI double from Georgia Hood. Chipola plated their first run in the second inning.

Skylar Buzbee led off with a double in the top of the fourth and pinch runner Cara Willis scored on a misplayed ball off the bat of Hannah Waltman. Waltman was eventually driven in by Bre'Asia Thomas and the Pirates had a 4-1 lead.

After picking up one run in the fourth the Indians took advantage of errors and scored three runs in sixth to take the lead. Pensacola did load the bases in the top of the seventh, but a double play ended the game.

PSC 3 NWF 2

Pensacola took down the no. 2 team in the country in the opening game Wednesday.

In the second inning, Marina Goins and Bre'Asia Thomas drew back to back walks with two outs and Brianna Duggins drove a double into the right center gap to score both runners.

Northwest scored a run in the fifth and sixth to tie the game at two.

Going into the bottom of the seventh Brianna Duggins led off with a double and Sammy Ladowski drew a walk before the Raiders intentionally walked Tori Ratigan to the load the bases and Susanna Soldi walked it off with a single.

PSC 0 NWF 9 (5 innings)

The Pirates were run ruled for the first time this season in the second game against Northwest.

The offense was stagnant while errors were plentiful. Brianna Duggins broke up the NWF no-hitter with two outs in the seventh when she singled up the middle.
