Six Pirates Named All-Panhandle
The Pensacola State softball team had six players named to the All-Conference team including Lydia Drake being named Pitcher of the Year and Georgia Hood named Player of the Year.
The Pensacola State softball team had six players named to the All-Conference team including Lydia Drake being named Pitcher of the Year and Georgia Hood named Player of the Year.
This is the second year that Georgia Hood was named Player of the Year for the Panhandle Conference. Hood batted a team best .471 with a .542 on base percentage. She also led the team with 16 doubles, 16 home runs and 60 RBI.
Lydia Drake was named to the 1st Team last year and upped her game this season to claim the Pitcher of the Year. She threw 138 innings and sported a 1.72 ERA. She struck out 153 batters while only walking 15.
For the first time in her career Susanna Soldi was named to the 1st Team. In the previous two seasons, the Milan, Italy product was named to the 2nd Team. The lefty, outfielder batted .297 with 11 doubles and 20 RBI.
Freshman, Samantha Ladowski made the 1st Team in the At-Large category. The Mooresville, North Carolina native split time between second base and designated player. She batted .348 with a .429 on base percentage and collected 20 RBI.
Tori Ratigan made the team for the second year in a row. The shortstop was named to the 2nd Team this year and has played every game of her career at short and as the lead off batter. She hit .322 with a .420 on base percentage and stole a team high 23 bases.
Brianna Duggins received an Honorable Mention nod to go with her 2nd Team selection last year. She stepped up her performance in conference play and batted .305. Overall she collected 10 doubles, three home runs and 26 RBI.
