Pirates Add One Win

The Pirate softball team was able to play three of their scheduled five games last week. They topped no. 11 ranked Chattanooga State at home on Thursday before traveling to Gulf Shores, AL and dropping two games on Friday. Saturday's games were rained out. Chatt State 2 PSC 4

Pensacola started the game shaky allowing two runners to reach on errors before pitcher, Madison Sabo buckled down and struck out the next three batters to end the threat.

In the bottom of the first, Karri Pritchard got PSC on the board with a solo home run.

Errors plagued the Pirate defense again in the top of the second and the Tigers were able to take a 2-1 lead. The score held until the bottom of the third when Karri Pritchard led off with a walk and advanced to second on a ground out. With two outs Gabbie York drove a ball to left to plate Pritchard and tie the game. After Cara Willis reached on an error, Kasey Markusic singled to left to drive in two more runs and give PSC a 4-2 lead that would end up being the final score.

Markusic was 3-for-3 in the game with two RBI while Pritchard was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and RBI.

Madison Sabo collected her fourth win of the season throwing five innings and striking out five while only allowing four hits. Kylie Jarman threw two relief innings and picked up her third save of the year. She only gave up one hit and struck out two.

Jones College 7 PSC 0

Pensacola could not get their offense going in the first game on Friday and they fell to Jones 7-0.

The Pirates gave up 10 hits while only collecting three themselves. Gabbie York had a double and Samantha Ladowski and Abbie Morris added one hit each.

Snead State 14 PSC 10

The offense showed up in the game against Snead State, but 10 runs would not be enough in the offensive battle.

Pensacola jumped out to a 3-run lead in the first thanks to a 3-run home run from Kylee Crowder. The Parsons pulled even in the top of the third, plating three runs and PSC responded in their half of the inning by adding three more runs with the help of an RBI double from Samantha Ladowski.

Snead exploded for 11 runs in the final four frames.

Karri Pritchard was 4-for-5 in the game with a home run and four RBI. Cara Willis was 2-for-4 with a run scored. McKenna Dunlap and Ladowski both recorded doubles.
