Pirates Return to Action with Two Wins

Carl Sandburg 0 PSC 13 (5 innings)

The Pensacola State softball team returned to the field this week and swept Carl Sandburg in a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Karri Pritchard got things going right away by slamming the second pitch of the game of the left field fence for a solo home run. The Pirates added four runs in the second inning, two of them courtesy of a home run from Kasey Markusic.

The runs kept coming in the third when PSC sent 11 batters to the plate. Highlights of the inning were another 2-run blast from Markusic and Kylee Crowder joined the home run party with a 2-run rocket off the scoreboard.

Bre'Asia Thomas was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a double. Abbie Morris joined her going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a triple. 

Madison Sabo got the win throwing four innings and only allowed one hit with seven strikeouts. Gabriella Lindsey returned to action and closed out the game in the fifth inning.

Carl Sandburg 0 PSC 10 (5 innings)

It was deja vu at the start of the second game when Karri Pritchard led off with a home run. Gabbie York added an RBI single to give PSC a 2-0 lead. Kylee Crowder led off the third with a double and scored on Bre'Asia Thomas' single up the middle to make it 3-0. 

In the fourth, the Pirates sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven runs to put the run rule into play.

Karri Pritchard was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, a home run and double. Bre'Asia Thomas was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI while Samantha Ladowski was 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI.

Kylie Jarman threw four innings to get the win while stirking out six and only allowing one hit. Yala Zwakman closed out the game and struck out one batter.
