PSC 3 Gulf Coast 7

It was the Panhandle opener for both teams on Saturday and Gulf Coast outhit the Pirates to win 7-3.

The Commodores used four hits and sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead. Pensacola responded with a run in the top of the third when Kasey Markusic led off with a single and was driven in by Karri Pritchard. In the bottom of the inning Gulf Coast capitalized on an error to extend their lead to 4-1.

Gabbie York hit a 2-run homerun in the fourth to plate what would be the Pirates final runs of the game.

Markusic was perfect at the plate going 1-for-1 with a run scored while Karri Pritchard, Kylee Crowder, Gabbie York and Cara Willis all were 1-for-3 in the game.

Madison Sabo and Gabriella Lindsey both threw three innings, and each gave up two earned runs.

PSC 1 Gulf Coast 2

The second game proved to be a pitcher's duel and the Pirates lost in heartbreaking fashion.

Gulf Coast got on the board first in the second inning with the help of a passed ball and error. The scored remained 1-0 until the fourth when Marina Goins led off with a double and scored on a triple that Brooke Vega banged off the centerfield fence.

It remained 1-1 until the bottom of the seventh when I dropped fly ball in center gave Gulf Coast a runner on second with no outs. A sacrifice moved the runner to third and with two outs a passed ball allowed the winning run to cross the plate.

Brooke Vega led the Pirates going 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI while Marina Goins provided the only other hit in the game.

Kylie Jarman threw a gem for PSC going the distance and only allowed five hits and one earned run.

Pensacola has a midweek by and will host Chipola on Saturday, March 23rd for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
