Pirates Split with Chipola

Chipola 3 PSC 4

The Pirate softball team won their first Panhandle game in thrilling fashion on Saturday.

Chipola got on the board first with a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning. The top of four saw Kylee Crowder blast a solo home run that made the score 2-1.

Crowder also got things started in the sixth with a single and advanced to third on an error by the Indians. With runners on second and third, Gabbie York singled to drive in the tying run. Then Brooke Vega calmly hit a sacrifice fly to left to give PSC a 3-2 lead.

Chipola's Emmalee Essary hit her second home run of the game to immediately tie the game in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom half of the frame, pinch hitter Abby Mclean drew a walk to start things for PSC. Cara Willis re-entered the game to run and advanced to second on a Karri Pritchard ground out. That's when Marina Goins stepped to the plate and drove a double to the center field fence for the walk off win.

Yala Zwakman started the game in the circle and threw 3.1 innings and only allowed four hits before Gabriella Lindsey came on in relief to close things out. Lindsey scattered five hits and allowed one run while picking up her first win on the season.
