Pirates Clinch Third Place

The Pirate softball team defeated Tallahassee on Tuesday with a 7-1 score. With the victory, PSC secured third place in the Panhandle Conference and will play Seminole State in a single game playoff for the final spot at the State Tournament.

It was Sophomore Day at Loyalty Field and eight of the 10 starters played their final home game.

Tallahassee was able to push one run across in the top of the first before a strike them out, throw them out combo ended the inning.

Pensacola immediately answered in the bottom of the inning when with two outs and two runners on Gabbie York singled up the middle to score one run. With runners on first and third a double steal allowed PSC to take the lead and they added one more run thanks to an RBI single from Cara Willis.

Kylee Crowder blasted her 16th home run of the year in the third to make it 4-1. The next inning saw Marina Goins drive in two runs with a single and she later scored the Pirates final run on a passed ball.

Gabriella Lindsey started the game and threw 4.2 innings for the win while only allowing one hit and Madison Sabo closed out the game only allowing two hits.

The Pirates will play Seminole State in Tallahassee on May 2nd at 4:00 pm est.
