Pirates Go To Splitsville Again
On Wednesday, the Pirate softball team faced off against Tallahassee State in a doubleheader, ultimately splitting the games with a loss in the first and a resounding victory in the second.

On Wednesday, the Pirate softball team faced off against Tallahassee State in a doubleheader, ultimately splitting the games with a loss in the first and a resounding victory in the second.
Tallahassee State 4 Pensacola 2
The Eagles struck first, scoring a run in the opening inning. The Pirates quickly responded in the bottom of the inning with singles from Keira Trim and Katelyn Morgan, both of whom crossed the plate to give the Pirates a brief lead. However, Tallahassee reclaimed the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning and added an insurance run in the seventh, sealing the game with a final score of 4-2. Despite the loss, every Pirate in the lineup recorded a hit, with Morgan Maples contributing an RBI.
Tallahassee State 1 Pensacola 9 (6 innings)
The Pirates came back with a vengeance in the second game, exploding for 12 hits in a dominant 9-1 win. The team batted around in the first inning, scoring four runs to set the tone. Karri Pritchard's solo homer in the second inning extended the lead to 5-0. Anna Reily led off the third inning with a double and later scored on a double steal, pushing the score to 6-1. The Pirates finished strong in the sixth inning with Katelyn Morgan's two-run homer and Gabbie York's walk-off solo homer. Katelyn Morgan had an outstanding performance, going 4-for-4 with a triple, homer, and three RBIs. Reily also shone, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Eight Pirates recorded at least one hit, and Kylie Jarman threw a complete game, allowing only four hits and no earned runs.
The Pirates will look to build their momentum as they head to Gulf Coast for a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1:00 pm.
