Coach Powell is entering her eighth season as assistant coach at Pensacola State. She also serves as the athletic department's sports information director.

Prior to joining the PSC staff in September of 2016 she served as an assistant coach at Highland Community College in Kansas. She assisted with all areas of offensive and defensive instruction, practice planning and was in charge of mental training. The Scotties were champions of Region VI and competed in the NJCAA tournament while placing seven players on the All-Region team and having the Player of the Year. 

Before working at Highland Powell was an assistant coach at Chattanooga State Community College where she helped with all areas of the program. The Tigers completed the 2015 season by placing third at the NJCAA tournament and had three players named to the All-Tournament team and two players named NJCAA 1st team All-Americans.

Prior to Chattanooga State Powell spent five seasons as the Head Coach with Olympia Haarlem in the Netherlands professional league. Upon her arrival Olympia had just promoted to play in the highest league and during her tenure Olympia established themselves as one of the top three teams in the league and qualified for the playoffs three times. In her five seasons Powell saw seven of her players make the Dutch National Team. In August 2014 Olympia hosted the ISF World Championship of softball and Powell was in charge of social media for the event.

From 2007 through 2009 Powell worked with the University of Tennessee softball team as a graduate assistant manager while receiving her Master's degree in Sport Studies with a concentration in Sports Psychology.

Powell started her college playing career at Palm Beach Community College before transferring to Samford University to play her final two years. After completing her eligibility she served as a student assistant with the softball team during her fifth year. Powell received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Education.

Powell is originally from Semora, NC and graduated from Person High School while lettering in volleyball, basketball and softball.
