Lady Pirates Topped by Tallahassee

The no. 12 ranked Lady Pirates were topped by no. 3 Tallahassee (TCC) 79-58 this past weekend. Pensacola State's record now sits at 17-3 overall and 1-3 in Panhandle play while TCC improved to 17-2 and 2-2. 

The two teams battled in a close first quarter as the score sat at 16-12 before the Eagles went on a run in the second quarter and cruised into halftime with a 43-29 lead. 

While the Lady Pirates were able to match TCC in the third quarter they could not gain any ground and the 14 point lead held as both teams tallied 20 points.

The Lady Pirates could never find their flow in the fourth and the game ended with a 79-58 final score. 

Naterria Luster and Mylashia Yancey led PSC in scoring as they both recorded 12 points and Luster chipped in eight rebounds. Nia Johnson added 11 points and five assists in the game. 

Pensacola State will open their second round of conference play at Northwest Florida on Saturday, January 27 at 5:30 pm.
