Lady Pirates Sweep the Select Physical Therapy Tip-Off Classic

The Pensacola State Lady Pirates proved victorious when they hosted the Select Physical Therapy Tip-Off Classic this past weekend.

On Friday they faced Florida State College-Jacksonville for the second time in a week. After a slow and messy first half from both teams PSC found themselves only ahead by eight at the break.

The second half saw PSC rally together and pull away for a 73-30 victory.

Every Lady Pirate that saw action scored in the game while five players scored in double figures to help contribute to the win. ZaMaria Polk recorded another double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds while Lenaejha Evans finished with a team high 18 points. Khadija Chambless, a Pensacola native, was hot from 3-point range and chipped in 14 points as Kaiya Burnett (11 pts) and Taylor Williams (10 pts) rounded out the double digit scoring.

Saturday saw PSC take down Daytona State 78-61.

Both teams hit the ground running and struggled with offense in the first quarter. Pensacola finally pulled ahead at the 7:50 mark of the second quarter when Kaiya Burnett knocked down a 3-pointer.

Burnett had an outstanding game as she led all scorers with 32 points. Anita Payne had a solid outing with 17 points while Jordyn Neal led the team with seven assists and ZaMaria Polk pulled down seven rebounds.

The Lady Pirates will have a few days off before they hit the road on Tuesday, November 26th to take on Bishop State in Mobile, AL at 5:30 pm.
