A Tale of Two Teams

A Tale of Two Teams

The Lady Pirate basketball team split their games this past weekend as they topped Bossier Parish easily on Friday before falling to College of Central Florida on Saturday.

Friday saw Pensacola State have one of it's best first quarters all season as they clicked on all cylinders and put up 30 points. They never looked back and cruised to an 82-47 victory.

Kaiya Burnett was the leading scorer with 18 points while Jordyn Neal had 16 and Anita Payne chipped in 15. As a team the Lady Pirates shot 45% from the field and 36.8% from 3-points range. ZaMaria Polk led the rebounding effort with 11 and was just one point shy of a double-double.

Saturday proved to be a different story as Pensacola never found its flow and lost to Central Florida 76-62.

Yet again Kaiya Burnett was the leading scorer for PSC with 14 points as Khadija Chambless and Lenaejha Evans each contributed 12. The Lady Pirates were outshot percentage wise in every category and out rebounded 59-39.

Pensacola State will have some time off for Christmas and then return to action on New Year's Day at Bossier Parish.
