Lady Pirates Drop Close Game at Chipola

The Pensacola State women's basketball team dropped a hard fought game at Chipola on Wednesday night.

It was a tight first half as the Lady Pirates found themselves down by only a basket at halftime with a 38-36 score. They knotted the score at 47-47 with five minutes to go in the third quarter and from there the teams swapped the lead back and forth.

Unfortunately Pensacola's shooting hands went cold at the start of the fourth quarter and they did not score until almost four minutes in. They kept fighting, but some missed free throws combined with Chipola continuing to knock down three's sealed their fate as they lost 84-79.

ZaMaria Polk was a presence inside the paint as she recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kaiya Burnett had 19 points while Khadija Chambless recorded 17 and Jordyn Neal chipped in 10.

The Lady Pirates will return home to host Tallahassee Community College on Saturday, February 1st at 5:30 pm.
