Lady Pirates Stretch Win Streak with Two During Thanksgiving Classic

Nov. 26 – vs. St. Petersburg College, 79-40 

This game was like many others the Lady Pirates have played this season. They took possession and were going to make a run for it.

Doing just that, Pensacola not only outscored their opponents in every quarter but, they led the St. Petersburg Titans 42 to 17 at the half. 

From start to finish offense was putting on a display with Kristin Williams being the leading scorer with 22 points, Zahra Daniel following behind with 13 points. Deborrah Redmon ruled the boards with eight rebounds, scored nine points and nabbed an impressive six steals on the night. Tai'Sheka Porchia fought her way into the mix with seven boards, five of which came offensively. 

While the offense was showing off, the defense was sneaking away with steal after steal, tallying a season best 16 for the second time this season.

 

Nov. 27 – vs. Eastern Florida State College, 68-62 

The no. 20 ranked Lady Pirates had an 8-0 streak on the line as they entered the game against no. 17 ranked Eastern Florida State College Titans on Saturday. After a hard-fought game, Pensacola claimed victory in this Top-20 matchup and extended their winning streak to nine games.

In the 68-62 win over the Titans, the difference was made by outscoring their opponents in the first quarter by two and applying pressure in the fourth nudging by them by four points to put PSC on top. 

Big time players step up and make big time plays and Tai'Sheka Porchia chose to do just that. Not only was she the Lady Pirates leading scorer with 17 points, she went 5-for-5 from the foul line, grabbed 12 rebounds and two steals to secure her second double-double on the season. 

In close pursuit was Zahra Daniel with 15 points and Kristin Williams with 14 points. Douthshine Prien contributed to the win going 5-for-6 at the foul line and pulling down six rebounds.

Pensacola capitalized off of fouls by going 19-for-24 at the charity stripe to help secure the win. 

The Lady Pirates will take on the Bishop State Wildcats at their place on Friday, December 3rd at 5:30 pm.
