Lady Pirates Outrun Bulldogs

Wednesday night proved to be a game of runs and the Lady Pirates were able to outlast Mississippi Gulf Coast and secure a 61-55 victory.

Pensacola led 15-11 after the first quarter and were seemingly in control in the second before the Bulldogs went on a 14-2 run to close the gap. PSC went into halftime with a 32-27 lead.

The Lady Pirates jumped out to an 11 points lead at the start of the third quarter, but again the Bulldogs closed the quarter with an 11-2 run and the score sat at 45-42 going into the final quarter.

PSC kicked off the fourth with a 10-1 run and cruised to the win never allowing the Bulldogs to get within six the rest of the game. 

Ja'miyah Bryant recorded her sixth double-double in a row with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Nataya Lockett chipped in nine points and four rebounds while Douthshine Prien added seven rebounds and five points.

Pensacola State is currently 9-2 and ranked no. 6 in Region 8. They will travel to Gainesville this weekend for the Florida JUCO Shootout. On Friday they will face Santa Fe and on Saturday they will take on the no. 23 nationally ranked Indian River.
