Porchia Signs Professional Contract
Former Lady Pirate, Tai'Sheka Porchia signs a professional contract with KS Basket 25 Bydgoszcz in Poland. During her time at PSC, Porchia led the team in scoring and rebounding for two years. As a sophomore she led the team to an 18-7 record. She was also a two-time Panhandle Conference honoree as well as a WBCA All-American.
The Camden, Arkansas native signed with Troy University after graduating from Pensacola State College. Coach Penny Belford said, "I'm so proud of Tai and could not be more excited for her future as a professional basketball player. She is one of the most athletic players I've ever coached, she is a tireless worker, and a great person."
Sporting no. 10 for the Trojans, Porchia spent two seasons in the cardinal and white with a combined 39-25, 27-9 SBC record with a fourth and second-place finish for the league. In those two seasons, she started 60 games with the fourth-highest field goal percentage (50.7), seventh-highest scoring average (13.7) and ninth-highest rebounding average (7.6) in Troy D-I history. She also accrued 18 double-doubles, 877 points and 51 double-digit games – had eight with 20-plus points and one with 30-plus to earn 2022-23 All-Sun Belt Third Team and 2023-24 All-Sun Belt First Team.
In her senior season, Porchia shot the eighth-best field goal percentage (50.7), tied for the sixth most free throws made (108) and finished eighth for rebounds in a single D-I season at Troy. The Arkansas native erupted against Arkansas State for the 10th-most points in a single game (35) while converting the seventh-most field goals (15) and grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds – also holds the record for most offensive rebounds in a game for recorded history at 11 (Feb. 1 – ULM).
