Lady Pirates Dominate Coyotes in Home Opener

No. 24 Pensacola State quickly established control of the contest by taking an early 18-2 lead midway through the opening period. Jaida McDonald dominated the first stanza with 10 points to give the Pirates a 32-13 advantage at the break. The Pirates outscored the Coyotes by only three to take a 51-32 lead into halftime.
The Pensacola State pressure continued in the second half as the Pirate lead gradually increased. The final horn would sound with the Pirates ahead of the Coyotes 94-60.
Audreonia Benson showcased her scoring ability leading the Pirates with 23 points while McDonald added 20 and nine rebounds. Tamya Hutchinson and Katiya Casey added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Talia Kemp paced the Pirates with eight assists and six steals.
The undefeated Pirate women will travel to Niceville, Florida to face No. 11 Southern Idaho on Friday, November 8, 2024. They will return to Niceville on Saturday, November 9, 2024, for a rematch with Santa Fe College.
