Lady Pirates Split the Weekend
The No. 24 Pirates came just short of pulling off an upset, falling 60-56 to No. 11 College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles on Friday. Pensacola State struggled to find offense in the first half and fell behind 35-16 at the break. The Pirates managed to outscore the Golden Eagles 40-25 after the break and got the deficit to just two points with only eight seconds remaining. A Golden Eagle steal on an inbound attempt would secure the victory for CSI.

Pensacola State 56 – Southern Idaho 60

Pensacola State struggled to find offense in the first half and fell behind 35-16 at the break. The Pirates managed to outscore the Golden Eagles 40-25 after the break and got the deficit to just two points with only eight seconds remaining. A Golden Eagle steal on an inbound attempt would secure the victory for CSI.
Jaida McDonald and Audreonia Benson both had 16 points. Talia Kemp added 14 to the Pirates scoring efforts. McDonald also grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds.
Kennedy Gillette was the lone Golden Eagle scoring in double figures with 15.
Pensacola State 73 – Santa Fe 52
On Saturday, The Pirates were able to respond to the disappointing loss to CSI, with a resounding 73-52 win over Santa Fe.
Jaida McDonald led the Pirates with a 16-point and 11-rebound performance. Akeelah Bryan contributed 16 points and Audreonia Benson added 14.
Micah Hannah and Aniyah Anderson had 16 and 14 points, respectively, for Santa Fe.
The No. 24 Pirates now sit at 4-1 on the season.
