Bio

Ron Robinson is entering his second year at Pensacola State after a successful 2023-2024 campaign with the Lady Pirates. In his fist year with PSC, Robinson was instrumental in helping guide the program to its first 20-win season as well as its highest national ranking since coach Clenita “Penny” Belford’s headship began in 2014. During the 2023-2024 season, the Pirates were ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation and spent the entirety of the season in the NJCAA Top-25 rankings. Robinson was the primary defensive signal caller for a Pirate squad that finished No. 8 in the nation in opponents’ turnovers per game (23.2) and No. 14 nationally in steals per game (13.2); the Pirates finished No. 1 in both categories in NJCAA Region 8 and Panhandle Conference play.

Robinson joined the PSC coaching staff after a very successful nine-year stint heading the Lady Pirates of Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) where he amassed 174 career wins (19.3 wins per season). In his final season at CVCC, Robinson’s squad finished with an overall record of 21-8 and were crowned Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) South Division Champions. In his nine-year stretch at the helm of the program, Robinson accumulated an impressive 120 victories and surrendered only 10 defeats in the ACCC South Division. He concluded his tenure at CVCC with an overall mark of 174-87. Prior to his assignment as Lady Pirates head coach, he served as the programs assistant coach under the direction of current University of New Orleans Head Coach, Trelanne Moore-Powell. Before arriving to CVCC, Robinson was a volunteer assistant coach at North Highland Assembly in the Columbus Parks and Recreation League from 2009-2012.

As a student-athlete, Robinson saw much success. He completed his playing career at Columbus State University, where he was coached by late Hall-of-Fame Coach Herbert Greene. While at CSU, he was a two-time Peach Belt All Conference and two-time South Atlantic All-Region player. Before transferring to CSU, Robinson was named to the 2005 NJCAA All-American Team and the NJCAA All-Region 22 Team while at Faulkner State Community College. Robinson led his Vigor High School squad to a school best 33-4 record and Final Four appearance in 2003. That year, Robinson was named to the AHSAA All-State Team. As a junior Robinson was named “Mobile Optimist 6A Player of the Year”.
