Volleyball Tops Coastal Alabama - East

The Pensacola State volleyball team was 1-1 last week in match play. They hosted Coastal Alabama - East on Friday and picked up a 3-0 win.

Head coach Belarmino talked about it being a fun match because all players contributed to the win. "We were mentally focused and took care of business quickly."

Brook-Lynn Sandford had a match high six kills with a .545 hitting efficiency and no errors. Beaudine Verweij also had a strong performance with four kills, 0 errors and a .364 hitting percentage.

"Defeating Coastal was one of our team goals for the week," said Coach Belarmino, "and now we are focused for conference matches this upcoming weekend."

Earlier in the week the Pirates traveled to Gulf Coast and dropped a tough match. After a woeful first set PSC did respond and improve throughout the match, but the Commodores were too strong.

Madison Fisher and Jordan Wood led the offense with 10 kills each while Reilly Landreneau picked up 14 digs.

The Pirates will go across town to face Pensacola Christian College for a final tune up before heading to Jacksonville to officially start conference play on Friday, September 20th.
