Pirates Take Down Coastal Alabama-East

The Pensacola State volleyball team completed a season sweep of Coastal Alabama-East on Monday night.

Alex Pierre had 10 kills, one error and a .429 hitting percentage in the match. Beaudine Verweij also contributed seven kills and a .500 hitting efficiency.

"Tonight was a great night for our middle attackers," said Head Coach Jennie Belarmino. "Both Alex and Beaudine had few errors and hit the ball with authority. I am looking forward to our last few home games and I expect us to finish the season on a strong note."

Over the previous weekend Pensacola hosted conference foes Santa Fe and Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ).

In the first match against Santa Fe the Pirates fell 3-0. Jordan Wood was the leading hitter with 10 kills while Reilly Landreneau collected 20 digs.

On Saturday PSC fell in a closely contested match to FSCJ 3-1. Madison Fisher tallied a game high 16 kills with Brook-Lynn Sandford chipping in 12 kills. Reilly Landreneau had another solid day on defense as she recorded 30 digs.

The Pirates will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Gulf Coast State at 6:00 pm.
