Volleyball Announces Three Pirates Signing

Pensacola State volleyball sophomore, Beaudine Verweij has signed a national letter of intent with NCAA Division 1 University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNC-G). 

Verweij is a 6'3 middle blocker from Weert, The Netherlands and was a huge factor in the Pirate defense this past season. She finished the season ranked number four nationally in solo blocks with 66. Verweij averaged 1.59 blocks per set and was named 2nd Team All-Panhandle.

Verweij is expected to make an immediate impact at UNC-G as she reads the game well and can change a match because of her blocking. The Spartans are led by Head Coach Corey Carlin and compete in the Southern Conference.

Freshman Madison Fisher has signed her letter of intent with NCAA Division 2 University of West Alabama (UWA). 

She is a 5'11 outside hitter from Ocala, Florida who starred at Belleview High School. Fisher was a 1st Team All-Panhandle honoree who ranked number one on PSC's team for total attacks (684) and ranked second on the team with 215 digs.

"Madison played six rotations for our team which provided stability with our offense and defense," says Head Coach Jennie Belarmino. "I know she will do a good job at UWA."

Fisher will join the Tigers and play under new Head Coach Hilary Lobenstein in the Gulf South Conference.

Jordan Wood, a freshman, right-side hitter has signed her letter of intent with The University of Mobile to compete with the indoor and beach volleyball programs. 

Wood played in 30 matches for PSC and had a total of 429 attacks and sported a .184 hitting perecentage for the season. She is 4.0 student who is originally from Mobile and graduated from Faith Academy. 

The Rams indoor team is led by longtime Head Coach Jon Campbell and competes in the NAIA Southern States Athletic Conference. The 2020 season will be the inauguaral season for the beach program. 

"I know the sky's the limit for Jordan because of her work ethic," praises Belarmino, "I look forward to watching her progress at The University of Mobile."
