The Pirates returned home this weekend after two tough matches on the road.
On Friday, Pensacola State faced the no. 12 ranked team in the country, St. John's River State College in a well-played match, but in the end, St John's came out on top.
Kaytie Rutland once more led the team in kills with nine, hitting .318 and also adding a pair of blocks. Sophia Ortega and Cheyenne Strickland were right behind with seven kills apiece.
Pensacola faced faced another tough opponent on Saturday, and once again, the match went all the way to the fifth set against Lake-Sumter.
The Lakehawks started the match strong winning the first set, but the Pirates bounced back and saw themselves take the lead two games to one. Unfortunately for PSC, Lake-Sumter found a way to turn the tables and ended up winning in five sets.
Cheyenne Strickland led the Pirates with a double-double performance, bringing in 14 kills and 17 digs, while Julie Neveu added 24 digs.
The Pirates return to Hartsell Arena this upcoming weekend, hosting their last two home games. They will face Pasco-Hernando at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 16th, with a Halloween Night promotion. Then on Saturday, October 17th it will be Sophomore Day starting at 12:00 pm.
