Pirates Close Out Regular Season
The Pensacola State volleyball team hit the road on October 20th for their last conference match of the season against a strong, defensive minded team, Gulf Coast State.

The Pensacola State volleyball team hit the road on October 20th for their last conference match of the season against a strong, defensive minded team, Gulf Coast State.
The match started off with the Commodores holding all the cards and winning the first set of the match.
The Pirates did not back down and found a way to win the second set, hitting .244 for that game. The entire match was a battle on both sides of the net, but the Commodores ended up finishing on top, winning 3-1.
Sophia Ortega earned another doble-double of the season, with 13 kills and added 17 digs to the match. Ortega was not the lone double-double for the night, Katrina Espinosa also picked one up with 17 assists and 13 digs against the Commodores.
Pensacola played their last match of the regular season on October 25th when they traveled to Coastal Alabama - East.
After stumbling on the first game and allowing the Warhawks to win the first set, the Pirates buckled down and found a way to win the next three sets, with an increased point differential by the game. The Pirate made a statement with the last set by hitting .619 to finish the match.
Once again, the dynamic duo of Sophia Ortega and Katrina Espinosa led the team with strong double-doubles for the night. Ortega accumulated a balanced 10 kills and 10 digs, while Espinosa set the team up for success with 19 assists and 10 digs against the Warhawks.
The Pirates are now preparing to start their post-season which will be hosted by Florida Gateway College in Lake City, FL.
The tournament starts on November 4th and goes all the way to November 6th. There will be more information to come in the next few days once the tournament schedule is finalized.
