Pirates Hand Gulf Coast First Loss

Pensacola State hosted no. 10 and undefeated Gulf Coast State on Wednesday night and pulled out a 3-1 thrilling victory.

The Commodores started strong and had a sizable lead halfway through the first set, but the Pirates fought back and only dropped the game 25-23. 

Pensacola used their momentum to tie the game at one apiece taking the second set 25-22. With a raucous crowd behind them PSC dominated the next two sets (25-17, 25-15) to pull off the upset.

Brooke Sproat led the way with 14 kills and Anyaliz Rodriguez added 14. Julia Neveu helped anchor the defense with 19 digs while Katrina Espinosa chipped in 17. 

Not only did the Pirates secure a spectacular win, but they also raised $650 for the Berry Strong Foundation through donations at the gate. 

Pensacola will host Coastal Alabama - East on Wednesday, October 5th at 5:00 pm.
