Pirates Sweep the Weekend

The Pirates closed out the weekend on a high note finishing 4-0 against four out-of-state opponents.  

The tournament started on Thursday night against Pearl River and saw PSC win a tough defensive battle 3-1. The Pirates came out on top with 81 digs against 62 from the Wildcats. Anyaliz Rodriguez led the home team with an impressive 29 kills, hitting .400%. Carly Cooper and Maddie Mire held the defensive side with 20 digs each. 

Moving onto Friday's matches, the Pirates faced Bishop State and Gadsden Stat. PSC swept both teams, totaling 21 blocks and 22 service aces. Kathryn Lupo led Pensacola State with seven aces in a single match against Bishop State. Kiara Vega helped the Pirates hit an average of .300% with 25 assists in the match against the Cardinals. 

The Pirates closed out the tournament with a final sweep against Snead State. 

Kiara Vega helped the home team succeed, leading the hitters with an average of .315 hitting percentage for the weekend, adding seven service aces and 37 digs. Riley Carter finished with 14 blocks total, followed by Cadence Goeden with 11. Anyaliz Rodriguez, once again came in clutch in the offense with a total of 69 kills while hitting .319%. Maddie Mire finished with 66 digs.  

The Pirates hit the road on Tuesday, September 5th to face Pearl River CC. The following day they will take on Northwest Mississippi State and Northeast Mississippi State.
