Volleyball went toe to toe with three Sun-Lakes Conference teams last weekend and came out on top, finishing 3-0.
Pensacola State 3 St. Petersburg 1 (25-18, 26-28, 26-24, 26-24)
Friday's match against the Titans was a nail biting four-set showdown.
Both teams struggled offensively throughout the entire match, but four players for Pensacola State fought to put the ball away; Sofia Ortiz and Cadence Goeden led the team with 11 kills each, along with Riley Carter earning 10 kills. Catie Woolf finished the match with another double-double including 10 kills and 11 digs. Brunna Marinari racked up 24 assists, and right alongside her, Jazmine Srun with 21. It's no surprise that libero Maddie Mire manhandled the defense, tallying 27 digs.
Pensacola State 3 State College of Florida 0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-19)
The Pirates took care of business on Saturday against the Manatees, finishing the match in three solid sets.
The outside hitters for PSC took over the offense; Goeden earned nine kills, Woolf right behind her with eight. Mire rallied behind the offense with 24 digs, four aces and three assists.
Marinari led the offense with 18 assists, along with Lauren Schuessler earning 10 assists.
Pensacola State 3 Pasco-Hernando 2 (25-14, 15-25, 25-13, 15-25, 15-5)
Sunday's match was a thrilling roller coaster for fans, as Pasco-Hernando took the Pirates to five gritty sets.
Pensacola's defense showed out against the Bobcats as Mire led her crew with 28 digs, Woolf with 15 and defensive specialist Olivia McDaniel with 12.
Goeden came alive at the net, earning 12 kills. Freshman middle hitter Marisa Beaubien dominated with 11 kills, three block assists and one service ace.
Marinari showed up with 27 assists and 10 digs and Schuessler made 16 assists and three digs to secure the team's victory.
Pensacola State will host no. 1 Gulf Coast State tonight at 6:00 p.m. Fans can gain free admission by bringing one food item to help restock the PSC Pirates Care Pantry. All food donations will be provided to students in need.
