The Pensacola State cross country team hosted their first meet last Saturday at the Milton Campus.
The start of the race kicked off the 32nd Annual Lumberjack Festival.
In the weeks leading up to the race the route was cleared and setup by the team itself and Richard Whatley. The terrain included bridges, water crossings and uneven footing.
Freshman, Maria Tibbetts had a strong showing and placed first in the meet with a 5K time of 24.20. Her performance led to her being named the Region 8 Player of the Week.
The team has a small competition break as they prepare for the Region 8 Championship that will be held Friday, October 29th.
