The Women's Cross Country team raced this past weekend for the Region 8 Championship meet, completing the regular season events.
The race took place at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida. The 2022 competitive season began on this same course and the team made big improvements in the short 8 weeks between races.
Emmalei Miller shaved two minutes from her initial time on this course, finishing in 24:05. Kaydee Cook finished second out of the Pensacola State College runners, shaving four minutes off her time, resulting in a 26:09 finish. Team captain, Jabria Brothers also shaved two full minutes off of her time finishing in 27:37. AnaMaria Yanas and Tatiana Floyd completed this course for the first time this season with their finishing times of 33:16 and 39:07 respectively.
"The hard work and early practices have paid off with drastically improved times," said Coach Julie Burger, "the larger race also brought competitive finishes. Our PSC runners pushed through the end with close finishes and cheering crowds. The energy and enthusiasm carried through resulting in personal records for this course and nationally qualifying times."
