Cross Country Opens Their Season

Pensacola State's Cross Country team finally kicked off their 2023 campaign this past weekend. Hurricane Idalia postponed the start of the season but, the Azalea City Classic proved a great way to kick off racing for the women's team.

The course was at Old Brookley Pines Golf Course overlooking Mobile Bay in Mobile, Alabama. The team did well on this open, grassy course. With race temperatures in the 90's and 89% humidity, it was a challenge, but the team was determined.

The Pirates came in third behind South Alabama and the University of Mobile. PSC's top finisher was team captain Emmalei Miller with a time of 25:25. She was followed by Kaydee Cook, with a time of 26:23, Madyson Sutherlin at 26:44, Bailey Scott at 28:39, Jennifer Brakebill at 29:39, Trinity Maracle at 30:46 and Hailey Hollenbeck at 43:25.

The team races again this Friday, September 15th, in Huntsville, Alabama. This Southern Showcase race will have over 42 teams from Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. The team is looking forward to the preview of this year's National Championship course.
