Cross Country Competes in Border Clash
The Pirate cross-country team traveled to Valdosta, Georgia, for Friday's annual Border Clash meet.
Competing on a rainy, muddy course, the team placed sixth amongst NCAA and NJCAA teams. The lead runner for Pensacola State College was Landry Wagoner, finishing in seventh place, with a time of 22:04.
PSC's second finisher was Christine Clark, completing in 24:05. Sydney Smiga finished third at 26:28, followed by Jillian Thornton in 26:46. Sasha Hatcher was close behind, finishing in 27:09 while sophomore Alicia Hopkins improved her time by 26 seconds, finishing in 33:59. The final Pirate to cross the finish was Akiyah Alden at 36:36.
Coach Julie Burger said, "Our team ran a great race on the slick course against competitive teams. We look forward to the Argonaut Invitational hosted by UWF on September 20th."
