Pirates Fall to Mississippi Gulf Coast

The Pirates kept a clean sheet until the 80th minute against the Bulldogs and then went down 2-0 within five minutes.

These two teams faced off in a preseason match on August 14th where the Bulldogs bested the Pirates, beating them 6-0, so the Pirates showed improvement.

Sidney Roest saved a penalty kick to keep PSC in the game and finished the match with four saves. In the 70th minute Adreahna Busch played a fantastic ball from a free kick that went behind the back line of the Bulldogs but unfortunately it was just a bit too far for Holland Tauscher to get a touch on the ball.

Coach Yepishin said this after the game, "We played a very even match against a very good and organized team, we had some great opportunities to score and unfortunately we did not take those chances and in the end the Bulldogs made us pay for it. It was incredible to see how focused and disciplined we stayed during the game, we can only build from here and move forward to Thursday and then Saturday."

Pensacola will hit the road on Thursday, August 31st to Ridgeland, Mississippi to face no. 2 in the nation Holmes Community College. Then they are back in action on Saturday, September 2nd at home at 3:00pm against Andrew College.
