The Pirate soccer team traveled to Wesley Chapel, Florida which is right outside of Tampa to take on Pasco-Hernando State College in a doubleheader. On Friday night, the Pirates had Holland Tauscher make it 1-0 on an assist from Paige Phillips and then Jenna Maiorino made it 2-1 from a penalty kick. The Bobcats were able to equalize with 10 minutes remaining and the Region 8 Championship was to be decided on Saturday morning at 11:00 am.
On Saturday, the game was going both ways with both teams creating chances on goal. Both keepers made some good saves to keep it 0-0. With a few minutes before halftime, Sidney Roest passed to Holland Tauscher, who flicked it on the path of Paige Phillips who sped by two Bobcats and put the ball in the back of the net. Jenna Maiorino then doubled the lead 15 minutes later on an assist from Paige Phillips and later Sarah Griffith sealed the victory for the Pirates on the 89th minute on an assist from Holland Tauscher. Sidney Roest and Remy Redmon combined for 10 saves on the game.
The Pirates will now travel to the winner of Region 10 on October 28th for a playoff match to get to the National Tournament in Arizona.
