Indian Hills 1 PSC 2

The Pirates had a thrilling match on September 5th against Indian Hills, an NJCAA Division I team out of Iowa. Pensacola started the game with high energy, however, a mistake at the three-minute mark allowed the Warriors to take an early lead. Despite this setback, the Pirates regrouped and maintained their focus.

Wasting no time, Maya Figueroa scored the equalizer with an assist from Aiyannah Robinson at the eight-minute mark. This momentum continued and right before halftime Eda Doganarslan scored the go-ahead goal, with Figueroa providing the assist. With a 2-1 lead the Pirates entered halftime with confidence.

The second half proved more challenging as Pensacola struggled to regain the organization and intensity they had in the first half. Regardless, they were able to contain multiple defensive challenges, including balls over the top. Despite the physical battle and mounting pressure from the Warriors, the Pirates held firm, securing a 2-1 victory by the final whistle.

PSC 2 Southwest Mississippi 2

On September 6th, the Pirates faced off against Southwest Mississippi Community College in a game that tested their resilience. Pensacola started strong but struggled to maintain their momentum, creating several scoring opportunities yet failing to capitalize. Meanwhile, the opposition took advantage of their chances, scoring twice in the first half and putting the Pirates down 0-2 by halftime.

During the break, the Pirates recognized they needed a stronger effort to turn things around. As the second half began, they pressed aggressively, determined to stay in the game. Their persistence paid off early, as Ayannah Robinson found the back of the net, narrowing the score to 1-2. With renewed energy, the Pirates kept pushing and Robinson struck again scoring the equalizer at the 70-minute mark.

Despite their efforts, the Pirates were unable to break the deadlock and had to settle for a draw. Next, they prepare to take on Pasco Hernando Community College in a crucial regional match at Ashton Brosnahan Park on Friday, September 13th.
