Pensacola State Shines in Region 8 Awards
The Pensacola State soccer team excelled in the Region 8 awards, securing the Player of the Year title and seven out of eleven spots on the All-Region team.
The Pensacola State soccer team excelled in the Region 8 awards, securing the Player of the Year title and seven out of eleven spots on the All-Region team.
Freshman defender Amelia Johnson was honored as Player of the Year, becoming the second Pirate to receive this accolade since the program's inception. Paige Phillips, last year's Player of the Year, and Jenna Maiorino were named All-Region for the second consecutive year. Sophomore goalkeeper Remy Redmon, along with midfielders Maya Figuero and Hailey Gatica, also made the team. Freshman Vivian Kettenhausen completed the lineup.
Coach Mark Yepishin was recognized as Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year.
The Pirates will travel to Wilmington, North Carolina this weekend to take on Cape Fear Community College for a spot in the National Tournament. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 12:00pm.
