The Pirate softball team traveled across town to face Division 2 University of West Florida on Tuesday and defeated them 12-9. Prior to the game the teams agreed to play a 10 inning game so each team could utilize all their players in the fall match up.

Softball Hosts Canadian Futures

The Pirates played a doubleheader versus the Canandian Futures Collegiate Showcase team on Monday evening. The Canadian Futures are coached by Joni Frei and make an annual trip to multiple colleges to gain experience and exposure. It is a fruitful experience for the Canadians and PSC as sophomore Danielle de Ruiter and freshman Sadie Rusteika are past participants from the Futures program.

On Friday the Pirate softball team traveled to Jacksonville, Alabama to face the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Last season the Gamecocks went 41-12 as they won the Ohio Valley Conference crown and made an appearance in the NCAA tournament. JSU capatilized on a couple errors and took an early 3-0 that the Pirates could never recover from. Pitching was strong on both sides as JSU struck out seven, while the Pirate pitchers sat down five.

The Pirates softball team opened their fall season on Saturday as they traveled to Pearl River Community College and split a doubleheader. The first game started slow for both teams and remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth innings when Pearl River capitalized on an error to score the only run of the game.
