Former Lady Pirate basketball standout Autumn Jones helped her University of Buffalo squad advance to the sweet sixteen in the NCAA Women's Basketball tournament last night.
The large crowd that packed Hartsell Arena on Saturday night enjoyed a close game that needed overtime to declare a winner. In the end no. 5 Northwest Florida State (NWF) prevailed over no. 10 Pensacola State 78-74.
The Lady Pirate basketball team currently is the only National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) division I team sporting a 16-0 record and has earned them a number 10 national ranking.

The new National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) poll was released on Tuesday and the Lady Pirates are currently ranked number 10. They took their top-10 ranking into a match-up versus Bishop State and prevailed 80-56.
